Smash Brothers

It's been a while since I painted any Reaper Miniatures.  After painting Space Orks and Dark Eldar, I thought I would like to do some fantasy figs for a bit.  I've had the one Hill Giant, Golan, for some time and recently purchased the other one Krug.  I took them out of their packaging, assembled them, and set off to get them painted.  I am fairly happy with the results.

Have a gander.  I can see them fighting off a nasty band of barbarians or some dwarves perhaps.  Anyway, they're done and ready to beat some arse.

Two More Tau

I saw this Tau Ethereal for sale on eBay at a great price....click....mine.  It came fully assembled which made painting some areas difficult.  I had a vision in my head as to how this should look and went with it.  I am super pleased with how it turned out.

The other miniature is by Reaper Bones.  I have a special place in my heart for their miniatures.  This particular one is called an Andromedan Female Hunter.  I've seen her painted up as a Tau on some sites on the Web.  I'm going to use her as a scout/sniper.  I liked the way she turned out as well.

That's all for now.  Do something nice for someone today.  Peace out.

There's No Clouding My Judgement

I just finished this Cloud Giantess from Reaper Bones Miniatures.  I've had the figure for sometime but never seemed to come up with a paint scheme that I was happy with.  When I found the photo on the internet of one someone painted, I knew this is what I wanted to do with mine.  Not a 100% copy (the highest form of flattery, so kudos to whoever painted the other one), but close to it.  I went with a light blonde hair color instead and kept the rest of the colors to gold, tan, white, silver, and metallic blue.  I think this little giantess looks pretty decent.  Check her out.

Ghost of a Chance

I've been wanting to paint this Ghost King miniature from Reaper Bones for a long time.  The delay in getting this done was that I couldn't quite wrap my head around how it should look.  The solution came the other day when I was searching through my old Heroscape figures and came across  the Shades of Bleakewoode.

Their paint scheme is simple and eerie at the same time.  I liked it and thought it would look good on this figure.  I'm giving a go.  See what you think of the final result.  As always, thanks for taking the time to check out my humble little blog.  Stay safe out there!

Now You See Me...

...And now you don't.  Check out my new Chaos Malice Shadow Lord.  The body is a Reaper Bones Hell Knight.  (I have no idea why I had two of them, but since I did, I decided to modify this one. The other one is in a picture in an earlier post.)

I removed the head, right hand, and shield and replaced them with some bits left over from my Warhammer Chaos Warriors.  The black and white color scheme is based on the Sons of Malice chapter of Chaos Space Marines in WH40K.  I added a few skulls to the base for mood.

I'm going to use this bad boy as the leader of my Warhammer Chaos Army when it is finished.  I'm super happy with the way this guy turned out.  I put a couple of pics below.  As always thank you for checking out my blog.  I greatly appreciate it.  Stay safe out there.

Ogres are like Onions

Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. This Ogre Chieftain from Reaper Miniatures Bones Line surely does.  The skin on this bad boy alone is six layers of color and probably just as many on the club.  All the leathers and wraps were painted pure black.  The furs were painted gray and the metals all painted pewter.  A wash of black all around, some dry brushing, and then the details and highlights.  When everything dried, I gave the figure a coat of satin finish and then went back in later to gave the metals a coat of high gloss.

I feel this guy may be one of the best miniatures that I have painted to date.  I am quite pleased with myself.  Take a gander and see what you think.  Enjoy the holiday and stay safe out there!

The Lucky 13

I've been at this for awhile.  I got the itch to do paint up some barbarians.  I had several from Reaper Bones.  While looking for them, I came across a set of Pathfinder Human Male Fighters.  I also had some figures from Banner Saga that I hadn't gotten round to. Many days and hours later..viola...my finished lot of lovely ladies and malicious men.  Check out the pics.

Her Majesty

I started off this crazy new year painting Svetlana, Frost Giant Princess, from the Reaper Bones Miniature Line.  For whatever reason, I've been on a Frost Giant kick as of late.  This is a great model.  The detail is nice and the figure reflects a sense of royalty in its pose.

I went with light blue skin and white hair.  The leathers got a dark brown with tan edging.  The cloak was painted a charcoal-grey and the fur boots were painted white.  Her spear tip was painted metallic white and then washed with blue and purple metallic washes.  The eyes were painted a yellow-green metallic color.  After everything dried, dark washes were applied to various areas and then the model was dry brushed to bring up the highlights.

I clear-coated the figure.  After it dried, I went back in and gave the leather areas a coat of semi-gloss.  The spear tip and any metals were given a coat of high-gloss.  Lastly, the spear tip was coated with iridescent glitter.

This one of the best overall paint jobs I've done to date. It's not perfect, but nothing ever is. The first figure of 2021 is done.  Not sure what I'll paint next.  I'm thinking something a little more Sci Fi.

Rollie Pollie Trollie???

Forgive me for the title...sometimes I can't stop myself.  The trolls are from the Reaper Miniatures Bones Line.  I've had them for some time.  Searching for something new to paint over the Thanksgiving Holiday, these two felt  right for some reason.  The greenish one with the axe is a Mountain Troll and the white one with the rock is an Ice Troll.

It took me a few days to finish them.  I am pleasantly pleased with how they turned out.  Take a look and see for yourself.  Stay safe out there!

When Your Ship Comes In

With Halloween coming, I decided to get out this amazing miniature from Reaper Miniatures.  It is the Shipwreck Revenant from their Bones Line.  So freaking cool!!!

Halloween came, but no treat.  Too much going on and I didn't want to rush the painting.   I took my good old time and finished it up today.  I think it looks great.  I feel this might be the best paint job that I have ever done on a figure.

Take a gander at the finished product, ya scurvy dogs!  Hope you like the pictures!!!

Getting a Little Chilly

Meet Boerogg Blackrime, Frost Giant.  This miniature is from the Reaper Bones Miniatures line.  I tried to keep true to what a Frost Giant should look like as far as hair, skin, etc.  I wanted a pale pallet for the furs, leathers, bones, and what not.  I stayed with grays and tans for the most part.  There are a couple of spots I went with a dark brown where I thought the leather would be thicker.  The ice sword was painted with a white-blue metallic finish.  I then gave it a coat of high gloss as well as the crown.  Lastly, it got iridescent glitter highlights.  I am super pleased with this little giant.

You Can Count On It!

It's been a while since I took on a Reaper Bones Miniature.  Going through my bins, I came across these two figs which I actually started about a year ago and then abandoned.  With Halloween just around the corner, I figured I'd give 'em another go.  I like the way these two little suckers turned out.

While I was on the Reaper craze, I pulled out this guy.  I haven't painted a troll in some time and this bad boy looked super cool.  I wanted him to look a little toadish but not too toadish.  I kinda think that's just what I got. Enjoy the pics!

The Dead Can't Hurt You

They could if they escaped from this Obsidian Crypt from Reaper Miniatures.  This is a great little piece of terrain.  The details are awesome, the model is sturdy, and it is a quick easy paint.  For the most part, I kept to the color scheme to that of the photo that was on the box.  I think that it turned out well over all.

It was a real pain in the tush to assemble.  The slot and tab design where the parts went together did not work well.  Either the slots were too small of the tabs were too large or a combination of both.  It wasted a ton of my time shaving these pieces down so that they would fit together.

Despite it being difficult to assemble, I'm definitely happy with the end result.  I think the piece will go well with the warp portal I just completed.

Orctoberfest

Here is an Orc warband that I have been working on for some time.  The larger ones at the back of the photo are from Reaper Bones.  The two smaller male orcs are by D&D Nolzur Miniatures.  The two females are half-orcs from Pathfinder Deep Cuts Miniatures.  I love the look of the D&D and Pathfinder Minis, but I kind of thought that they were a bit of pain to paint.  If you've followed my blog at all, you know I'm a Reaper Minis Fanboy so I don't have to "rah-rah" them.  Take a look.  As always, I appreciate that you do.

Time Marches On (Slowly)

At home due to the COVID-19 situation like many of you around the world.  I've been putting some energy into getting some of my miniature wargaming stuff done.  Here's a little beauty I completed over the past couple of days.  It's a Frost Wyrm from Reaper Bones Miniatures.  I wanted to have a sort of snow/ice feel to it.  I'm not 100% thrilled with it, but overall it looks pretty cool I think.  Take a look.  Stay safe out there!

Creature Feature

A bit under the weather today.  I decided to search my overabundance of miniatures and find something to paint.  After some time, I went with the Reaper Bones Creature of Blood Reef.

I gave it a light green metallic base coat. I then painted the fin areas a light metallic blue.  I gave the entire figure a bluish purple wash. I mixed some silver into the metallic green and blue and dry brushed the corresponding areas. I gave the teeth and claws a a light tan coat and then went back and highlighted them with white.  Some of the deeper areas got a a blue/black wash. The eyes got a bright gold dot. Finally, I clear coated the entire figure with a high gloss and then lightly applied some glitter paint.

Here's how this little denizen of the deep turned out.

Royalty

Just finished this Fire Giant Princess from Reaper Bones.  Great model.  Easy to paint.  I think
it turned out decently.  Take a look and see what your thoughts are.  Not sure what I'll work on next.  I'm thinking some terrain perhaps.

Hairy, Scary, and Extraordinary

Thirteen things that go bump in the night.  I finished this project WAY before Halloween (see last blog entry).  These macabre  miniatures are all from Reaper Bones.  Ringing the group are eight wicked warriors destined to do dark deeds.  The winged demonic ape adds to the mayhem.  At the center of the madness is a ravage bear from the Numenera line.  Three mushroom men complete the odd ensemble.  I'm definitely pleased with this little group of boogie men.  No trick here, just a treat!

Where There's Smoke, There's Fire

Check out this smokin' hot Fire Giant Miniature from Reaper.  Great sculpt!  Active pose!  Very expressive!  I really enjoyed painting this one.  The base is from Reaper's new Base Boss line.  It's really great. It's well made and very sturdy.

Next project:  I'm planning to get 13 of the creepiest little minis done by Halloween.  Hopefully it will be devilishly fun!

Brutes, Beasts, and Bad A$$es

A busy July to say the least. Nine pretty cool miniatures from the Reaper Bones Collection. A handful of barbarians, a troll, an orc, an ettin, and a woodland hunter.  Some of my better work to date.  Check 'em out.
