Universally Scary

'Tis the season.  Witches, Warlocks, and Werewolves.  All the things that go bump in the night.  When I was a kid I would get all geared up when it was Halloween.  In the spirit of the occasion, I have these frightening little miniatures to share.  Collectively these iconic creatures are referred to as the "Universal Monsters" because Universal Studies produced black and white movies featuring them starting in the 1920s thru the 1950s. I've loved watching those movies over the years.  For their time, they were quite scary. I also built plastic model kits (made by Revell) of most of them back in the day.

Included in the cast of characters here are:  The Frankenstein Monster, The Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.  These are all 3D prints from Pop Minis.  I ordered them on Etsy.  I think I did pretty decently on the paint job.   Have a gander.  I hope you like them.  TTFN.  Stay safe out there this Halloween.

Bloody Hell

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've been working on some Warhammer Vargheists from Games Workshop.  Vargheists are leather-winged monsters which were once vampires.  Their bloodlust consumed them devolving them into deadly beasts several times the size of a man.  They roam the battlefield in packs viciously attacking any prey in a flurry of tearing claws and sharp fangs.

The trio was fairly easy to assemble.  I largely stuck to the color scheme that was in the photo on the box cover.  I liked how they looked.  Once I was finished painting them, I made each a custom base.   They are finally done and ready to make their horrifying debut right here.  Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to my nightmare.

In The Pitts

What is going on with the Pitt Panthers?  They are 1-4 this season.  Some of the games they have been in for a bit and others they got stomped.  I realize they lost some great talent at the end of the season last year (Eg. Kenny Pickett), but is that what's causing the boys in blue and gold to come up short?

We know the QB spot is a real concern for the Panthers right now.  Is Veilleux the answer?  Will moving Jurkovec to tight end help?  What about the run game?  Third down conversions seem to be a problem, how do you fix that? How about a little help from the Defense?

I hope we will see some answers as the season progresses.  It's hard to see your team get "L" after "L" week in and week out.  Come on Panthers, let's see a little more "pride" in your play. "Let's Go Pitt!"
